Abstract：This paper defines the scope and the connotation of the urban rural fringe and explains the transitional and dynamic essence of the urban rural fringe, then explores the main functions of urban rural fringe in the urban system. Based on the investigation to the land use condition of Hongshan District of Wuhan, the paper analyzes the whole structures and regional structure of land use in this district and expound the fundamental features and its existing problems in land use of urban rural fringe and its influence on the urban sustainable development.
