Abstract：GUO Shou jin,a scientist in Yan dynasty, who made great achievements in regulating rivers and watercourses projects, had his unique mode of thinking in the field of water conservancy. Firstly, on the basis of practical investigation, he proposed plans and schemes for hydraulic engineering projects; Secondly, he pay much attention on comprehensive usage of water resources; Thirdly, in the course of restoring the old projects, he not only reserved and developed the original projects but also used accurate calculations to avoid subjective conjectures.
