Abstract:The population of Hubei grew slowly before the middle of the Ming Dynasty, which were mainly mainly distributed on mound and hilly areas. The dikes fields in the Jianghan Plain was in its healthy exploitation period. The effect of population on the environment was active and reasonable which was illustrated by the continuous expand of district development and progressively establishment of field ecological system. Since the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the population increased. the Jianghan Plain and the western Hubei mountain area became the emphasis of exploitation, the relationship between population and environment became worsen gradually because of the action of anti natural law in exploitation.
