Abstract：Phytoalexins are low molecular weight chemicals that plants produce and accumulate in response to infection especially of fungal origin. Sakuranetin is a kind of flavanone phytoalexin isolated from ultravioletirradiated rice leaves. Recent research work on flavanone phytoalexins represented by sakuranetin is reviewed. Interesting novel structures, stuctureactivity relationships and synthetic methods are discussed.
