Abstract:The fluorescence spectra of poly(methylcyclohexylsilane) (abbrevd. PMCS) and poly(methylphenethylsilanecomethylcyclohexylsilane) (abbrevd. Copolymer) solutions in cyclohexane before and after UV irradiation in air are studied. The experimental results show that the positions of the fluorescence peaks shift to a shorter wavelength and the fluorescence intensities decrease gradually with an increase of UV exposure time. The dependences of UV spectra, GPC, XPS and IR spectra of PMCS or Copolymer solutions upon UV exposure in air indicate that these phenomena are in accordance with the processes of photodegradation and photooxidation, which lead to the decreasing of molecular weights and the formation of siloxane structure in siliconsilicon main chains.
