Abstract：The Honghu Lake is the main storage lake in Sihu Region, Hubei province, and also one of the major flood diversion area in the middle reaches of Yangtze Valley. The other function of the lake includes irrigation, fish farming, tourism, and water supply, etc. With the increasing exploitation of the natural resources of the lake recently, the condition of Honghu Lake water resources is becoming worse in recent years. This paper discusses the situation of water resource and management of the lake. With an analysis of the relation between the water level of Honghu Lake and that of Yangtze River, and an evaluation of water resource condition, it puts forward several countermeasures to manage the water resources better.
