Abstract：The paper firstly reports the butterfly resource in Houhe National Nature Reserve. A total of 106 species from 55 genera in 9 families were identified based on butterfly specimens collected in the survey and published materials. Papilionidae, 3 genera, 8 species; Amathusiidae, 1 genera, 1 species; Libytheidae, 1 genera, 1 species; Pieridae, 7 genera, 13 species; Satyridae,6 genera, 21 species; Nymphalidae, 16 genera, 32 species; Lycaenidae, 7 genera, 10 species; Hesperiidae, 13 genera, 19 species; Riodinidae, 1 genera, 1 species. Among them, 20 species are newly recorded in Hubei province. Due to the investigation, we conclude that the main elements of the fauna in this region are oriental.
