Abstract：It turns out that close correlation exists between the population and the square of cultivated land, soybean-planting land, foodstuff-planting land, cotton-planting land, oil-planting lands and the distributing of the cultivated land, when applying the method of singular value decomposition to analyzing the relationship between the development of population and the use of land. The result of the study accords with the facts, which indicates that SVD can be well used in the analysis of land use in Hubei province.
