Abstract:HIR/HIRA,encoded by Hir/Hira(histone regulation) genes,were identified as negative regulators of histone gene expression.The function of the homolog of hira gene in Drosophila(Hira) during the embryogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster has not been elucidated accurately.The Hira gene was cloned into UASP vector and overexpressed by UAS-Gal4 system in the early embryogenesis.The overexpression of Hira caused significantly increased lethality of embryos,which suggest that Hira gene may have important functions in embryogenesis of Drosophila.Since the products of Hira genes are involved in histone,the overexpression of Hira may affect Drosophila embryogenesis through the pathway related to histone.
