Abstract：Inner city lakes mainly refer to lakes in the city zones and lakes adjacent to non-agriculturalization area,including lakes which lies in satellite towns.Based on the analysis of the present characteristics of the lakes in Wuhan,the paper studies the evolutional process and principle of the lakes in Wuhan since the Three Kingdoms period and puts forward the basic pattern to develop and make use of them.This paper points out that there are a large number of lakes in Wuhan city,which can be defined as East-sand Lake water system,Tangxun Lake water system,North Lake water system,Dark Lake water system,East-and-West Lake water system.The paper holds the view that the evolution,use and protection of the lakes are closely related to the urbanization process.And the paper illustrates that thechange of the lakes is most obvious in Ming dynasty,and it suggests the strategies of how to make reasonable and continual use of the lake resources,to develop lake economy,to build "Lake City Wuhan" and to increase the protection of the lakes.
