Abstract：In mobile communication system, reduction of transmit power and energy consumption, extending the operate time is a important research topic. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to reduce the power consumption of mobile termination based on the IEEE802.11 protocol, this algorithm can chose the optimal transmit power and modulation method by RTS/CTS information and power efficiency defined in this paper. The energy consumption can be reduced efficiently in this way. Finally, the performance of this algorithm is evaluated via simulation.
