Abstract:Based on the investigations and collections of bryophytes in Tumur Peak National Natural Reserve, East of Kunlun Mountain and the Altun Mountain National Natural Reserve in Xinjiang, China, Bryoerythrophyllum ferruginascens (Stirt.) Gisc.and B. neimonggolicum X.-L.Bai & C.Feng were first discovered and reported. The distinctive features of Bryoerythrophyllum ferruginascens (Stirt.) Gisc are as follows: reddish brown plants, well-developed central strand, lanceolate leaves with entire margins, densely papillose cells of the upper part of the leaf and hyaline or yellowish basal cells, and red-brown gemmae which is ovoid to irregular in shape. Besides, B. neimonggolicum X.-L.Bai & C.Feng is recognized by its small size, reddish brown to brown of plants, well-developed central strand, broad-lanceolate leaveswith entire margins, and the cross-section of midleaf which is semiorbicular. In this paper, the taxonomic features, habitat, geographical distribution were preliminary discussed.
