Abstract:The specification and testing on local patterns of spatial association is an important concern in the spatial analysis of urban or regional data.A few local indicators are needed to adopt for detecting underlying significant local spatial association and assessing stationarity of existing spatial structure. With a brief review on local spatial statistics, this paper discusses about the integration of the analysis of local patterns of spatial association and the research of regional economics, and then an example is given to show the usefulness of local spatial statistics in identifying and quantifying the underlying local spatial association patterns between economic units.
