RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE EVOLUTION OF KARST CAVES AND THE INTERCHANGE OF GLACIAL EPOCH TO INTERGLACIAL EPOCH IN QUATERNARY IN THE SOUTHWEST OF HUBEI PROVINCE
Abstract:The Karst caves arc commonly developed in the southwest of Hubet Province, ospocially in the region of Wolong Cave, Panlong Cave, Hoilong Cave, Tonglong Cave, Beilong Cave & Feilong Cave, which is located in the northeast of Lichuan City. All of these caves can be divided into three strata: the upper, the middle and the down stratum. The down stratum is full of water and under the processe of water erosion and widen its space. The middle and the upper strata are of dry caves, and are above the ground water level, being full with stalactites, stalagmites and stalactitic colurms. Between the horizental stratum are of vertical karst caves connected each other, all the horizental and vertical Karst caves make up of a great independent Karst caves system. It has great relationships between the evolution of this system and the interchange of glacial to interglacial epoch in Quaternary: In interglacial epech the horizental Karst caves formed, and in glacial epoch there formed the vertical Karst caves. With the inter chang of the glacial epoch to interglacial epoch, the vertical Karst caves were interolaced by the horizental Karst caves, and in these processes all of the Karst caves are connected in one union.
