Synthesis and herbicidal activity of novel phosphonate derivatives

Abstract:In order to find novel phosphonate derivatives with higher herbicidal activity, based on the fragment combination, a furyl group as R was introduced into structure IV to give eight novel phosphonate compounds. Their herbicidal activities were then evaluated. The results showed that most of the target compounds displayed good herbicidal activity against dicotyledonous weeds. Especially, compound V-1 was comparable with glyphosate against several of the tested weeds at the rate of 75 g·hm-2 (a.i.). These compounds could be modified and used as potential compounds of herbicide for further study.
