Abstract:The U.S. Westward Movement was the reclamation movement of wasteland by immigrants on a broad scale. The western parts of America developed and rose quickly in pure capitalism mode, which offers useful lessons: the exploitation based on the big scale immigration; priority to the development of transport service; the development of agriculture and animal husbandry; the participation of the American government in the development of the West; and urbanization brought about the development of the West. Although the development of the west was successful, in the long run, it also exerted negative influence on American society and economic growth: the damage of ecology environment; Indians ill-treated; peasants suffered from heavy usury during the Westward Movement.
