Abstract:Roberto Assagioli, an Italian psychiatrist, is best known for his formulation of a personality theory and psychotherapy model called "psychosynthesis", which opposites Frued's "psychoanalysis", but it is not so influential in comparison with the latter. Assagioli proposes "height psychology" which opposites "depth psychology", and maintaines that the goal of psychotherapy is to integrate the different subpersonalities within the person and then make these subpersonalities interact harmoniously. Assagioli's spiritual orientationed personality theory and psychotherapy techniques has laid a foundation for transpersonal psychology.
