Abstract:Vico's imagination theory takes the principle "verum just factum" as the prmise which objects to the imagination of rationalism. He points out that "common sense" is the basis of understanding in primitive society, and the logic of understanding is the imaginative logic which dominates fundamental aspects of primitive society, and the imagination is the noumenon. The significance of the theory lies in its inheritance of the imaginative convention of Italian humanism, and it is the first sign of cultural criticism in the 20th century.
