Abstract:The meaning of "beauty" in Lunyu, an ancient book in China in which collected some famous words of the great thinker and educator Kong Zi and his students, has not yet definite and solidified, and has the nature of uncertainty. The concept "beauty" of Lunyu has close relation with utilitarian aim and goodness has controlling power over beauty. Kong Zi's pursuit of the neutralization of beauty, a kind of harmony,is the reflection of Kong Zi's ethic thinking in aesthetics. By means of comparing the nature of one natural object to a person's moral, Lunyu displays the features of primitive thinking (or poetic thinking). Kong Zi's aesthetic thinking is the product of the history, which has great influence on later aesthetic history.
