Abstract:In 1930s, with the growth up of Nazi Germany in Europe, the danger of a war was nearing. In order to protect their own interests, Britain and US tried to make cooperations in diplomacy to restrain the ambition of the Reich and avoid the outbreak of a war. However, as there exists insurmountable barriers between both countries on Germany issues, neither would USlike to assume the burden of political duty in Europe, nor did Britain trust the US. Finally the collaboration ended in failure, US were excluded out of Europe affairs and Britain had to appease Germany solely. It is no doubt that this result accelerated the outbreak of the Second World War.
