Abstract：This paper mainly explores Zeng Gong's grandfather Zeng Zhi yao's life and behaviors. The previous researches on Zeng Zhi Yao's behavior paid much attention on The History of Song and Ou Yang xiu's essay, neglecting the importance of Epitaph , composed by Wang An shi. This paper compares the historical materieals accounted respectively by Ou Yang xiu and Wang An shi, obtains some useful materials about Zeng Zhi yao's official experiences, the location of his tomb, the time and reasons for the moving of his tomb.
