Abstract：Twenty years ago, The Darkness Legend which was excavated in Shenglongjia area, Hubei Province, was regarded as the mythical epic of Han nationality by academic circles and aroused far-flung attentions. This paper focuses on the Pangu fairy tales in this long epic and on analyzing various ancient handwritten copies, it tries to explain the motifs the long epic has, such as giving birth to Pangu, mak-ing sky and earth, killing fog spirit, setting sun and moon, evolving into different features etc. What's more, it uncovers the transmission mystery of this epic according to Shenglongjia's special nature and historical culture background.
