On Chen Shi--the Founder of the Private-owned Zhonghua University
Due to the 100th annuversary of Central China Normal University, this paper is to introduce the great deeds of an educator--Chen Shi. He is the founder and president of the first private owned university--Zhonghua University, in modern history. After liberation, Chen Shi contrituted this university to the government which later was combined into the ex body of Central China Normal University. This paper expounds Chen Shi's founding experience and his educational ideas and practice in details.

Yun Dai-ying''''s Educational Theory and Practice in Central China University
Yun Dai ying's educational theory and practice in Central China University was one important aspect of his thought and revolutionary act in his early years. On Zhang Shun-hui''''s Double-Criteria for Evaluating Qing Dynasty''''s Science
Based on the elaboration of the double criteria which was used, by Zhang Shun hui, to evaluate the academic changes in Qing Dynasty, this thesis analyzes the intrinsic conflicts between the value of "science for practice" and that of "science for truth", and the scholars' confusions of this problem from modern times on. It also remarks on the values respectively. Zhang affirmed the traits of "science serving practice" in the early and the late Qing Dynasty, but in terms of the standpoints, he inclined to accept the scholars' ideas of using learning as the interior guide to practice in the early Qing Dynasty, and disagreed on the idea of using politics as the criterion for making choices between learning, and the idea about which something is not used would be called futility, and then the idea of using learning to allude politics, and the idea of sacrificing the impersonality in the trend of thoughts of serving practice in the late Qing Dynasty. As for the learning in the time of Qianlong and Jiaqing, Zhang's attitude was contradictive, which was full of the value conflicts between the value of learning for practice and that of learning for truth.

"I Examine Myself Critically" and "I Detach Myself from Worldly Desires":Two Routes of Activities of Artistic Psychology
Everyday I examine myself critically again and again" advocated by the Pre Qin Confucianists and "I detach myself from worldly desires" by the Taoists are not only philosophical but also psychological statements. As two routes of psychological activities, the ideas of "examination" and "detachment" have exerted far fetching influence on Chinese ancients in their creation and criticism of poetry, paintings, novels and operas as well as their artistic psychology. The Confucianist "internal examination" included maintaining mental tranquility, fostering noble spirit and self disputing, which required "loyalty" and "forgiveness". Meanwhile, the Taoists advocated "detachment" and "oblivion". And a series of relevant psychological skills were suggested in order to help subjects reach this state. These originally philosophical and ethical ideas, after being transformed and reformed, were thus introduced to the field of literary creation and, to this day, they are still extensively applicable and invite scholars to interpret from plural perspectives.

From "Vernacular Subject" to "Rural Subject"--A Genetic Study of the Dominant Literary Subjects in Modern Chinese Literature
Literary subject not simply classifies life materials that literature has described, it is a historical outcome of literary development and variation. Literary subject is not only the object of literary history research, but also becomes a special category of literary history, when some sorts of subjects are named, interpreted repeatedly and given special meanings. Because of this, "vernacular subject literature" and "rural subject fiction" should be regarded as two categories of literary history instead of being accepted as a fait accompli. The thesis studies them from a genetic perspective, trying to find out the shaping and usage of them and the ideology motives behind them, so as to obtain some genetic information of modern Chinese literature.

Many scholars, including Mr Feng Zhi himself, think that Collection Of Tour Northward And Other Poems was the development of the poet's Song Of Yesterday . This paper attempts to throw new light on the collection, and argues that the collection contains none of poems as excellent as Snake, In Countryside and I Am A River that he wrote before, though it collects some wonderful poems such as Song In The Moonlight and Night In South. Additionally, there were none of well written long narrative poems in the collection.

Cultural Comparison on the Tombs of the Chu State and the Qin State
The thesis compares and studies a large number of tombs of the Chu State and the Qin State in the way of anthropology and history. Based on the analysis, it thinks the origins of the Chu State and the Qin State aren't single. Different ethnicities merged gradually among the long term community life and created their own culture that were greatly different in style. By contrast, Chu culture was more corlorful and splendid, but became showy, weak in the later period; Although Qin State's civilization was lower than Chu's in degree, the Qins kept plain, thrifty and diligent all the time. It was these differences that led to the two states' different historical destiny:the Chu State was defeated by the Qin State, who finally united the whole country.

The Chu''''s and the Qin''''s Scholars and the Development of Society
In the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States periods,the stratum of scholar was increasing sharply and changing greatly. They played an important role in the development of society. Compared with analysis of the document materials and the archaeological materials, the Chu state and the Qin state both formed the complete class structure, including the stratum of scholar in the early years of the Spring and Autumn period. But because of the difference in geographic environment, humanity ecology and development route, the two states' scholars were different in constitute, amount, cultural quality and financial condition.Thus,their rloles were also different. The Chu state's scholars were higher than the Qin state's in quantity and quality. They were used in the Jin State and the Qin State. They devoted greatly to the glosary of the Chu's economy and culture, the integrate of the Qin Dynasty and the unity, prosperity, steadiness of the Han Dynasty.

Comparison on Customs of the Chu and Qin State during Middle and Late Warring States Periods
During the Warring States periods, the Chu and Qin State contended fiercest in China. In fact, their deadly fight to each other on military affairs was the competition of ideas and behaviors in every respect of their social life. So partly comparing customs between the Chu and Qin State's social life in this period, we can know the general development of the two states' social life. They had their own characteristics in ideas, behaviors, marriage life and attitude towards women. Their customs in social life directly reflected their value orientation, ideas and behaviors, which played an important role in the development of their society.

The thesis compares the funeral rites between the tombs of Chu and Qin and reveals the differences and relations between them. Chu and Qin had their characteristic funeral rites. The Vocation of the Meaning of A Word and the Creativity of the Textual Exegesis
This thesis is to be devoted to the analysis of the theoretical domain of "the vocation of the meaning of a word and the creativity of the textual exegesis" for the further analysis of the traditional scholiuns of the Chinese lexicology and the research of the exposition of chinese classics. In the first section, it expounds the vocation of the meaning of a word and the basis and the function of its formation. The last section explores the creativity of the effects of its formation. In a word, the vocation of the meaning of a word, one of the the basic features of the meaning of a word, embodies the relationship between human beings and the meaning of a word, between human beings and the world, while the creativity of the textual exegesis, one of the basic features of the textual exegesis, embodies the relationship between human beings and the ancient cultural codes and records, between human beings and the study of the exposition. The two interact with each other. The former is the basis of the formation of the latter while the latter is the pragmatic effect of the former.
